Job Description

Tradesy is seeking an exceptionally talented Data Scientist to be a part of a data driven technology and fashion company.

Success in this role requires an individual who is self-directed and possesses the ability to lead cutting edge analytical solution development using data science and machine learning.

We are also migrating our systems, data warehouse and data pipelines to Google Cloud to take advantage of Google’s cutting edge technologies like BigQuery, Pub/Sub and Dataproc. We’re already leveraging the power of BigQuery and Google’s Data ecosystem in very interesting ways. If this is something that sounds exciting to you then you are the right candidate for us.

This role reports directly to the Director of Data Initiatives.

You Will:

  • Analyze heterogeneous listing descriptions and assign them to descriptive, dynamically-generated item categories
  • Write heuristics to figure out when two or more listings are talking about the same item.
  • Analyze browsing and purchase data to provide item recommendations that reflect the styles and items that each user might like.
  • Use historical data to identify market trends, predict supply and demand, and suggest efficient listing prices.
  • Create models to identify various forms of fraud including fake listings, buyer-seller collusion and credit card fraud


You Have:

  • Experience with Hadoop and/or other data processing platforms based on Hadoop 
  • Experience with Spark is a plus
  • Demonstrable experience designing and developing scalable systems
  • Experience with Web technologies (HTML, CSS, LAMP, NoSql, REST)
  • 3+ years experience working in a professional capacity
